18. Stella - Sweet Cherry
Season: harvested from mid July to August.
Pollination: Self-fertile. Pollination group D
Rootstock: Our tree is on the Colt rootstock, giving a moderately sized tree.
Notes:
A Canadian bred variety
Stella reliably produces heavy crops of firm, dark red fleshed fruits - (a ‘black’ cherry!) with a very sweet flavour.
It makes an attractive tree both in flower or when laden with fruit.
Britain's best known dessert cherry with the sweetest flavour.
