28. Arlingham Schoolboys 2 - Apple
A good general purpose heritage variety from the village of its name.
The last tree in Arlingham died in the late 1990's and it is now considered ‘critically endangered’
We have two of these trees, the other is grown as a dwarf tree, and is at number 20.
Pollination: uncertain - but the variety of trees in our orchard will ensure that any requirements are met!
Rootstock: MM106 for a moderately large tree
Malus domestica 'Arlingham Schoolboys’
The skin is green with red stripes and flushes.
A fairly good, medium sized dessert apple with a sweet and full flavour, without too much acid.
When cooked it keeps its shape, and has a milder flavour.
It juices well, and will store until the end of November.
A vigourous tree with large flowers and dark buds.
