Delightfully perfumed fruit for cooking
This quince produces a show of large soft pink flowers in the spring and very large golden pear shaped fruits in the autumn. A very heavy and reliable cropper.
The immature green skin is covered by a soft 'fur' which usually rubs off as the fruit matures to golden yellow. The flesh is white and oxidises very quickly when cut. It is virtually inedible raw, but cooks down to a soft consistency with a wonderful perfume. Often used to make jams and jellies.
